McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College men's soccer team has announced its 2013 schedule. Eleventh year head coach Doug Quint has assembled one of the toughest schedules in the programs history as the squad will play six matches next fall against teams that will potentially be considered amongst the NAIA’s best.
A brief look into the team’s 2013 matches:
On Labor Day weekend, the Bulldogs travel down to Texas to face tough opponents in University of Texas-Brownsville and Northwood University; UTB has appeared in the NAIA National Tournament four of the last five seasons. The following week they return home with matches against two Iowa schools in Morningside College and Briar Cliff University. They then hit a stretch where they face NAIA Preseason No. 4 University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and No.15 Mid-America Nazarene University, a 2012 National Semi-finalist, both on the road, before returning home to take on the 2011 Semi-finalist Baker University.
The Bulldogs are faced with seven regular season games at home, and ten road trips.
"I believe our non-conference schedule will do a wonderful job of preparing us for conference play," Quint said.
McPherson will open KCAC play at home against Bethel College before visiting the defending champion Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes on October 9th in Salina.
“We expect the conference to be a tough race again next season,” said Quint. We were certainly disappointed in 2012 and felt the team underachieved by not finding consistency. The schedule we have assembled will challenge us every day and we should be better for that.”
