Box Score Wichita, Kan. – Two goals in the last 10 minutes propel the McPherson College men’s soccer team past Friends University, 2-0. The win extends the Bulldogs win streak to eight matches.

“This was another great road win against a quality team,” said McPherson head coach Doug Quint. “We played really well in phases tonight, but defensively we were strong again.”

“With a win Wednesday at Southwestern, we have a chance to end our regular season undefeated on the road. That would be a great accomplishment considering the competition we have faced this year.”

The result improves McPherson’s record to 11-1 (5-0 KCAC), while the Falcons drop to 8-3-1 (2-2-0 KCAC).

Senior forward Armando Rodriguez scored his fourth game winning goal of the season in the 81st minute to give the Bulldogs a late 1-0 lead. The goal is Rodriguez’s KCAC leading 11th of the season. He currently leads the Bulldogs and the KCAC with 26 points on 11 goals and four assists.

A little over five minutes later, McPherson added an insurance goal when Brent Mulford netted his ninth goal of the season at the 87:48 mark.

Sophomore goalkeeper Blake Jett recorded his sixth shutout of the season tallying four saves. The shutout improved his record to 10-1 on the season. Jett has allowed five goals in 12 matches for a .457 goals against average ranking him fourth nationally.

Friends University won the shot count, 13-11, but the Bulldog defense limited the Falcons to only four shots on goal.

Rodriguez and Mulford led the McPherson offense recording three shots apiece.

McPherson returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 21, with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Southwestern College.
