Women’s basketball falls on the road at Haskell, 57-65

Box Score Lawrence, Kan. – Three Bulldogs scored in double digits, but 36 free throw attempts by the Lady Indians to only two by McPherson proved to be too much for the Bulldogs as they dropped the game 57-65 Saturday evening in Lawrence, Kan.

With the loss, McPherson drops to 3-3, while the Indians improve to 9-2.

Junior guard Kristen Ozbun paced the McPherson offensive attack. Ozbun finished the night 8-of-18 from the field for 18 points, including 2-of-7 from beyond the three-point line. Seniors Stephanie Poland and Michelle Ducy were the other two Bulldogs in double digits, finishing the contest with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

As a team, the Bulldogs connected on 26-of-69 (37.7 percent) attempts from the field, including 4-of-15 from the three-point area. Haskell held a slight edge in rebounds, 36-35, but McPherson won the turnover battle, 17-22.

The Lady Indians were led in scoring by Maria Parker with 22, followed by Justina George who ended the game with 16 points.

McPherson has a rematch against Haskell in their next game on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Tipoff with the Lady Indians is set for 6:00 p.m. inside the McPherson College Sport Center.
