Box Score Sioux City, IA – Junior forward Brent Mulford netted his second goal of the season, scoring in the 84th minute to propel McPherson (3-0) to a 1-0 win over Briar Cliff on Saturday afternoon in Sioux City, IA.
“We put a good 90 minutes together today, but just had some trouble finishing,” said McPherson head coach Doug Quint. “I was very pleased with our improvements! Three victories on the road is a nice way to start the season.”
Senior forward Armando Rodriguez earned his second assist and fourth point of the year on the game winning goal. The goal was the second time in three games that Rodriguez has connected with Mulford.
Sophomore goalkeeper Blake Jett recorded his second shutout in three games, registering five saves against the Chargers.
The two sides were even in shots recording 15 a piece. Briar Cliff held a slight advantage in corner kicks, 8-3.
The Bulldogs will be back in action in their home opener, Wednesday, Sept. 16 against Mid-America Christian University. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m.
