Box Score Lindsborg, Kan. – It took McPherson five sets to pull out a win on the road against Bethany College 3-2 (25-21, 25-20, 18-25, 20-25, 15-11) Wednesday night.
“It was sloppy, but it was a win,” said McPherson head coach Susan Barton.
Kiley Loesch led the team with 22 kills and nine aces. She also added 16 digs. As a team, the Bulldogs recorded 57 kills, but struggled with 31 attacking errors.
Libero Brooke Wedel led the team with 25 digs.
McPherson got off to a quick start, winning the first two sets to take the early 2-0 lead. However, Bethany would win two straight sending the game into the decisive fifth set.
McPherson would struggle in the fifth set hitting only .071, but held the Swedes to a dismal .056 hitting percentage. In the end, McPherson would win the set 15-11 giving them the win in the match 3-2.
The win improves McPherson’s record to 3-8 overall, 2-2 in the KCAC.
McPherson returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they travel to Ottawa University to take on the Braves. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
