Women’s basketball defeated by Sterling, 88-58

Box Score McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College women’s basketball team suffered their fifth straight conference loss, as the No. 15 ranked Sterling College Lady Warriors defeated the Bulldogs, 88-58, Saturday night at the McPherson Sport Center.

With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 4-12 and 1-7 in KCAC action, while the Lady Warriors improve to 14-3 and 8-0 in conference play.

McPherson held close through the first 20 minutes, entering the break down seven (39-32), but went cold in the second half. McPherson shot only 24.3 percent from the field, including 11.1 percent from behind the three-point arc in the second half, while the Lady Warriors connected on 51.9 percent in the second period.

McPherson had three players finish in double digits. Junior guard Kristen Ozbun led the Bulldogs with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, while Shireana Robinson recorded 13 and Stephanie Poland tallied 10. Senior guard Michelle Ducy posted a team-high seven rebounds in the effort.

For the game, McPherson hit 22-of-68 (32.4 percent) attempts from the field, while Sterling connected on 26-of-55 (47.3 percent), including 6-of-19 from beyond the three-point arc.

The Bulldogs return to action at home Thursday when they take on Bethel College at 6:00 p.m. in the McPherson College Sport Center.
