McPherson falls to Bethel in four

North Newton, Kan. – The McPherson College volleyball team fell to Bethel College, 3-1 (19-25, 21-25, 25-20, 20-25), Monday evening at Thresher Gymnasium.

With the loss, McPherson falls to 12-9 overall and 5-5 in conference play, while Bethel improves to 18-8 overall and 9-1 in KCAC action.

Bethel took the opening two sets 25-19 and 25-21, but McPherson rallied to pull the deficit within one after a 25-20 win in the third frame. Despite the swing of momentum in the Bulldogs favor, the Threshers stormed back to win set four and the match 25-20.

Junior setter Brelynn Schloo (Salina, Kan.) tallied a double-double with team-highs in assists (31) and digs (14), while junior hitter Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) was the only Bulldogs with double digit kills registering 13. Senior Kelley Green (Brighton, Colo.) fell just two short of tying her season-high with 11 digs in the effort.

As a team, McPherson hit .133 and recorded five team blocks.

McPherson returns to action Wednesday night as they host Ottawa University. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. inside the McPherson Sport Center.
