McPherson, Kan. – The Bulldog back line combined to score all three McPherson goals to guide MC to a 3-1 win over Bethel College on Wednesday night at McPherson Stadium. The win is the Bulldog’s (6-5-1, 3-1-0 KCAC) third in their last four matches.

"As a coach it is gratifying to have your players put exaclty what you train on into effect in matches," said McPherson College head coach Doug Quint. "I was pleased with the way we player overall. This team continues to improve everyday. The key for us is not having a mental lapse."

Senior center defender Lance Dick (Hutchinson, Kan.) notched his first goal of the season in the eighth minute to open the scoring for McPherson. Dick’s goal came off a Bethel failed clearance, when the ball bounced his direction and he placed it in the upper left corner.

Dick’s fellow center back Tyler Tank (Austin, Texas) continued the defensive scoring trend early in the second half as Tank put away a Geverton Ost corner kick to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage. The goal is Tank’s third of the season and would count as the eventual game winner.

Junior Phillip Moore (Topeka, Kan.) completed the scoring just 13 minutes later after being tackled in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Moore proceeded to bury the penalty kick into the lower left corner to give MC a decisive 3-0 advantage.

The Threshers would add a goal of their own in the 65th minute to bring the final score to 3-1.

McPherson outshot BC 17-9, including eight shots on goal, while holding a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Blake Jett (Fort Worth, Texas) tallied one save in the effort.

McPherson continues wraps up its three-match home stand with a Saturday night contest against KCAC rival Friends University. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. at the McPherson Sport Center.
