McPherson opened the scoring on their first drive when Travis Eason (Tulsa, Okla.) connected on a 32-yard field goal.

Following Tabor’s third consecutive punt to open the game, the Bulldogs took advantage of a short field by marching 37 yards on six plays to extend their lead to 10-0. An Aaron Lafitte (Ironwood, Ariz.) 10 yard run capped the drive.

The Bulldogs continued their dominant play throughout the first half, as McPherson entered the locker room with a 30-0 halftime advantage. MC tallied three touchdowns in the second quarter on a Thomas Stauts (Little Elm, Texas) blocked field goal return for a touchdown, Skinner’s 27 yard reception and Lafitte’s second score of the game.

MC’s defense forced Tabor into two turnovers and four punts in the first half, while holding the Blue Jays to 104 total yards.

German would tack on his first touchdown of the season early in the third quarter to extend McPherson’s lead to 37-0. A second Eason field goal of 47 yards would make it 40-0.

Tabor would eventually get on the board with 9:34 left in the game when Andrew Herard capped a 13 play, 80-yard drive. The Blue Jays would score again on their next possession to cut the deficit to 26, 40-14, but it would prove to be too little too late.
