Salina, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan scored an early goal and held on from there in defeating the McPherson College women’s soccer team 3-0 Saturday evening at Salina Central Stadium.

The loss drops McPherson to7-8-2 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play, while the Coyotes improve to 8-6-2 overall and 8-1-0 in league action.

Rhonda Swan scored her first of two goals in the 11th minute to give the Coyotes an early 1-0 advantage. The match remained within reach after 45 minutes, but Swan’s second goal in the 53rd minute followed by a Leanne Brown score in the 65th put the match out of reach for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs struggled offensively recording a season-low four shots, including two shots on goal.

McPherson will return to action in the opening round of the KCAC postseason tournament on Friday, Nov. 5. against Sterling College. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. in Sterling, Kan.
