Manhattan, Kan. – Behind a career-high 21-point effort from junior guard Aaron Jackson (Junction City, Kan.), the McPherson College men’s basketball team defeated Manhattan Christian College, 71-54 Monday night in Manhattan, Kan.

With the win, McPherson improves to 3-1 on the young season.

Jackson led all scorers by hitting 7-of-11 shots from the floor to surpass double figures for the third time this season. He also connected on 4-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc and 3-of-4 free throws.

The Bulldogs raced out to a comfortable 45-22 halftime lead on 53.3 percent (16-of-30) shooting in the period. MC maintained its lead for the remainder of the contest.

On the night, McPherson shot 48.1 percent from the field, including 6-of-16 from beyond the three-point line. The Bulldogs bench outscored the Crusaders 33 to two.

Manhattan Christian shot 45.0 percent (18-of-40) from the field, while out rebounding the Bulldogs 32-26. However, MC forced the Crusaders into 37 turnovers.

Freshman guard Samson Shivers (Houston, Texas) was the only other Bulldog in double figures with 16, as 10 different Bulldogs scored in the game.

MC returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 13 when they host the University of Science and Arts (Okla.). Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the McPherson Sport Center.
