The Matchup

The McPherson College men’s basketball team hopes for a new start following a 7-7 first two months of the season, including a five game winless streak in early December. The Bulldogs attempt to kickoff the new year in the right fashion with a road trip to York College (Neb.) on January, 3.

Tipoff between the Bulldogs and Panthers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (CST) from the Freeman Center in York, Neb. A radio broadcast of the game will be carried locally in the McPherson area by 96.7 FM KBBE Mid Kansas Radio, while an audio stream is available at www.macbulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs (7-7, 1-3) enter the matchup coming off a disappointing 87-89 overtime loss in an exhibition match with NCAA D-II Newman University on December 18. McPherson’s defense held the hot shooting Jets to just 25.8 percent from three-point range, while out rebounding NU 45-35. However, a pair of fouls, including a technical, late in the overtime period gave Newman the edge it needed. As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting 41.1 percent (340-of-828) from the field and averaging 69.6 points per game.

McPherson returns to KCAC play on Thursday, January 6, when they play host to Southwestern College. The game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. inside the McPherson College Sport Center.
