Wichita, Kan. – Sophomore Sadie Green drove in the only Bulldog run as the McPherson College softball team fell 10-1 (five innings) to Central Methodist University in the last of three games on Friday at the Friends University Tournament in Wichita, Kan.
Central Methodist jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first innings as it plated four runs on three hits.
The Eagles added another run in the top of the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. McPherson battled back in the bottom half of the frame as sophomore Katie Logan scored from third on a Sadie Green ground out to the shortstop. Logan reached base on a walk before Ashley Luthye moved her along with a single through the hole at short.
Central Methodist responded by scoring five runs in the fifth as it posted six hits, while leaving just one runner on base. McPherson opened the bottom half of the frame with a runner on, but was unable to take advantage as the next two batters struck out before the inning and game ended on a ground out to second base.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday in the Friends University Tournament.
