Hastings, Neb. – Briar Cliff opened with a 25-22 first set victory and never looked back en route to a 3-0 victory over the McPherson College Bulldogs in the opening match of Saturday’s play at the Hastings Invitational.
Despite the loss, McPherson continued to see impressive play out of junior Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.). Hiebert led the team 10 kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Natalie Boss (Waterville, Kan.) chipped in eight kills in the loss.
McPherson tallied 11 kills and a .146 hit percentage in set one, but the talented Chargers took the frame, 25-22.
BCU continued its dominant play throughout the next two sets winning 25-13 and 25-17, respecitively.
With the loss, McPherson drops to 4-4 on the season and 0-3 in the invitational.
The Bulldogs close out the Hastings Invitation later today against Midland Lutheran College. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
