Leavenworth, Kan. – The McPherson volleyball team snaps a five match winless streak with a 3-1 victory at the University of Saint Mary Thursday evening. The Bulldogs won 22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 26-14 to improve to 5-6 on the season and 1-2 in KCAC action.

“This has been an up and down week for us,” said McPherson coach Susan Barton. “On Tuesday I felt we came out a little flat against Ottawa, but rebounded well with a hard fought win at Saint Mary. Our defense was terrific tonight, and Natalie (Boss), Kory (Hiebert) and Amy (Neufeld) had good nights offensively.”

Sophomore Natalie Boss (Waterville, Kan.) recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 kills and 10 digs, while junior Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) hit a team-high .364 and tallied 14 kills. Junior setter Brelynn Schloo (Salina, Kan.) led the team with 38 assists and 14 digs. Junior Amy Neufeld (Hillsboro, Kan.) rounded out the top three hitters with eight kills.

As a team, McPherson notched 46 kills on 149 attempts for a .221 hit percentage. Defensively MC tallied 75 digs and six blocks.

McPherson returns to action Saturday, Sept. 18 when it hosts Central Christian College. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the McPherson College Sport Center.
