North Newton, Kan. – Caryn Welch’s goal at the 45:42 mark ended up being the only offense Bethel College would need on Wednesday night at Thresher Stadium, as the Threshers beat the McPherson College women’s soccer team by a score of 1-0.
With the loss, McPherson falls to 5-7-1 overall and 2-1-1 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference action, while the Threshers improve to 5-7-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the league.
McPherson had many opportunities to score throughout the game, but could not find the back of the net. For the contest, MC outshot Bethel 17-9 and had 11 shots on goal, while the Threshers had just three.
Freshman forward
Geneva Gray (Littleton, Colo.) paced the Bulldogs with six shots, including five on frame, while five other Bulldogs tallied two shots each. Sophomore goalkeeper
Tori Verdieck (New Castle, Colo.) made two saves in 90 minutes in the loss.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they travel to Wichita, Kan. for a matchup against Friends University. Kickoff is currently scheduled for 6 p.m. (CST) at Adair-Austin Stadium.
