Wichita, Kan. – Despite holding a 1-0 lead early in the second period, the McPherson College men’s soccer team fell, 2-1, at Friends University Saturday evening at Adair-Austin Stadium.
The loss drops McPherson to 8-5-0 overall and 3-2-0 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while the Falcons go to 6-7-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the KCAC.
The two sides battled to a stalemate, 0-0, over the opening 45 minutes with each team taking five shots.
McPherson opened the scoring in the 53
rd minute when junior forward
Brooks Walsh (Valencia, Calif.) found the back of the net for the fifth time this season to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage early in the second period. However, Brooks’ goal would go for not as the Falcons Brent Hobson and Scott Henderson notched goals in the 69
th and the 71
st minutes to take the 2-1 victory.
The Falcons held a slight 9-8 advantage in shots, while McPherson edged FU, 3-1, in corner kicks.

The Bulldogs return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 19 when they host Sterling College at McPherson Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. (CST).
