McPherson, Kan. –
Following a split last week with Bethel College and Friends University, the McPherson College women’s soccer team will be back in McPherson on Wednesday and Saturday for games against Sterling College and Bethany College.

The Bulldogs (6-7-1, 3-1-1 KCAC) fell to Bethel College, 1-0, midweek last week, but bounced back with a 5-1 thrashing of Friends on Saturday. Freshman forward Stephanie Cornell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tallied her third and fourth goals of the season against the Falcons, while fellow freshman Geneva Gray (Littleton, Colo.) added to her team-leading goal total with her seventh.

McPherson is 4-1-1 over their last six, including shutout victories against Central Christian College, University of Saint Mary and Tabor College.

Wednesday’s game with Sterling will be the first meeting between the two sides since the Warriors ended MC’s season, 5-4, on penalty kicks a year ago. Sterling enters the matchup with a 6-7-0 overall record and 2-3-0 mark in KCAC play. The Warriors have lost three of their last four, but came away with a 2-0 victory at Bethany College their last time out. Wednesday’s game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.

Bethany limps into Saturday with one win in their last 10 matches for a 3-8-1 overall record, including a 1-4-0 conference record. The Swedes lone victory came against the University of Saint Mary, 2-1, on Oct. 12. Saturday’s game, which was originally scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., has been moved to 1 p.m. due to potential weather conditions.
