Bulldogs Suffer 3-1 Loss at Ottawa

Box Score Ottawa, Kan. – The Bulldogs saw their two-match win streak come to an end Saturday, as the McPherson College volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-1 match at Ottawa University on Friday night.
 
The loss drops McPherson to 10-16 overall and 7-9 in conference, while Ottawa improves to 13-14 overall and 9-7 in the KCAC.
 
The match looked promising for the Bulldogs early on as MC hit a match best .314 en route to a 25-20 victory in the opening set. However, the Braves bounced back to take the next three sets by the scores of 25-16, 25-12, 31-29 to capture the victory. McPherson hit no better than .074 during OU’s three set swing.
 
Senior Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) paced McPherson with 13 kills and two solo blocks, while fellow senior Amy Neufeld (Hillsboro, Kan.) added eight kills, respectively. Freshman Tori Phelan (Rangely, Colo.) added seven kills, while senior Brelynn Schloo (Salina, Kan.) dished out 19 assists. Defensively, senior Brooke Wedel (Moundridge, Kan.) collected a match-high 26 digs.
 
McPherson returns to action on Monday, Oct. 31 when they travel to the University of Saint Mary. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CST) at the Ryan Sport Center.
