McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College men’s soccer team opens its first full week of conference action with a midweek matchup against Tabor College at 8 p.m. at McPherson Stadium. After the Blue Jays, the Bulldogs wrap up the week on Saturday at Ottawa University. Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Braves is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Both matches will be live streamed via the KCAC Broadcast Network.
The Bulldogs are currently tied for the top of the conference standings with a 6-3-0 overall record and 1-0-0 KCAC mark following a 7-0 thrashing of the University Of Saint Mary Saturday Night. McPherson scored four first half goals, including three from junior forward
Juan Garcia (Reno, Nev.) en route to the victory. Garcia’s performance earned him KCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
On the season, Garcia leads the team with eight goals and five assists, while four other Bulldogs are tied for second in scoring with three goals each. Senior goalkeeper
Blake Jett (Fort Worth, Texas) inched closer to tying the all-time shutouts record with his win against the Spires. He enters the week with 15 career shutouts, three short of tying the career mark.
Tabor features a much-improved side from 2011. The Blue Jays own a 7-2-0 overall record, including wins against Central Christian College and Sterling College last week. On the other hand, Ottawa has struggled at times this season to a 3-5-0 overall record, but knocked off Bethel College, 1-0, last Saturday to snap a two-match winless streak.
Following the Braves and Blue Jays, McPherson hits the road for a pair of matches at Bethel College and Friends University.
