Women’s Basketball Suffers 72-66 Defeat at Haskell

Box Score Lawrence, Kan. – In a hard fought game from start to finish, the McPherson College women’s basketball team fell to Haskell Indian Nations University, 72-66, Tuesday evening at the Tony Coffin Sport Center.
 
With the loss, McPherson fell to 0-2 on the season, while Haskell improved to 1-2.
 
McPherson, aided by a 41.4 percent (12-of-29) shooting performance from the field and an 80 percent (8-of-10) success rate from the foul line, held a slim 34-29 advantage after the first period. Freshman Brittany Pittas (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) paced the MC attack with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including two 3-pointers.
 
Haskell, however, would bounce back in the second period to outscore the Bulldogs, 43-32, in the period and claim the six-point victory.
 
Overall, Pittas led McPherson with 15 points, while sophomore Madison Chambers (Wellsville, Kan.) added 11 points, six rebounds and two assists, respectively. Senior Elice Frey (Riley, Kan.) led the Bulldogs with six rebounds. Haskell was led by Kayla Davis with 23 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Nataska Rouse posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
 
McPherson returns to action on Friday, Nov. 4 when they travel to Denver, Colo. for the Johnson & Wales University Classic.
