Fourteen different Bulldogs scored as the McPherson College women’s basketball team cruised past Central Christian College (Kan.), 83-34, Tuesday night at the McPherson Sport Center.
 
With the win, McPherson improves to 2-4 overall, while Central Christian falls to 2-6 on the year.
 
Freshman guard Brittany Pittas (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) and sophomore guard Kt Porter (Wichita, Kan.) led McPherson with 11 points each, while sophomore guard Madison Chambers (Wellsville, Kan.) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
 
As a team, McPherson finished the contest shooting 41.5 percent (27-of-65) from the floor, including 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from beyond the arc. In addition, the Bulldogs converted 21-of-32 free throws, while forcing 33 Central turnovers.
 
In the first half, the Bulldog defense held the Tigers under double figures for nearly 15 minutes en route to a 41-13 advantage at the break. Senior forward Elice Frey (Riley, Kan.), who scored the Bulldogs first six points on the contest, sparked MC’s first half run.
 
McPherson shot 23 second half free throws, while holding the Tiger offense to just 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from the field en route to the 49-point victory.
 
Harley Pate led the Tigers with 11 points off the bench, while CCC shot 23.3 percent (10-of-43) from the field as a team.
 
McPherson returns to action Friday and Saturday when they host the McPherson Classic. The Bulldogs open the tournament on Friday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. against Northern New Mexico before facing Haskell Indian Nations University at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
