Denver, Colo. – Despite three Bulldogs scoring in double-digits, the McPherson College women’s basketball team fell, 85-79, to host Johnson & Wales University Saturday afternoon in the second day of the Wildcat Classic.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 1-3 on the year, while JWU improved to 3-1 overall with the win.
In the first half, the Wildcats defensed frustrated the Bulldog offense into 12 turnovers en route to a 47-38 halftime advantage. McPherson battled back in the second period, outscoring JWU 41-38, but failed to overcome the deficit.

Elice Frey (Riley, Kan.) who recorded 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor led McPherson on the night. In addition to Frey, freshman guard
Brittany Pittas (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) posted her fourth straight double-figure scoring night with 16 points, while freshman guard
Kayla Jernigan (Johnson City, Texas) chipped in a career-high 11. The Bulldogs were led in rebounding by sophomore guard Madison Chambers with 10.
As a team, the Bulldogs shot 45.3 percent (29-of-64) from the field and 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the foul line. McPherson held a 45-37 edge in rebounding, but turned the ball over a game-high 21 times.
McPherson returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 12 when they host Hastings College. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT) inside the McPherson Sport Center.
