Bulldogs Season Ends in KCAC Quarterfinals

The McPherson College volleyball team put forth a strong team effort against No. 2 seed Tabor College on Tuesday night, but fell 3-1 (18-25, 23-25, 25-20, 22-25) to the Blue Jays in the semifinal round of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Championships.
 
Senior middle hitter Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) led the seventh seeded Bulldogs with 12 kills and a .370 hitting percentage, while fellow senior Amy Neufeld (Hillsboro, Kan.) added nine kills, respectively. Junior setter Hannah Hoffman (Bendena, Kan.) and senior setter Brelynn Schloo (Salina, Kan.) combined for 37 assists with Hoffman posting a team-high 20. Defensively, senior libero Brooke Wedel (Moundridge, Kan.) led the squad with 19 digs.
 
The Bulldogs dropped the opening two sets, 18-25 and 23-25, before battling back to cut the deficit to 2-1 following a 25-20 victory in the third frame. However, McPherson failed to carry that momentum into the fourth set as the Blue Jays won the set and the match 25-22. On the night, MC hit .139 with 19 errors.
 
McPherson finished the season with a 12-18 overall mark, including an 8-10 record in the KCAC regular season. The Bulldogs graduate four individuals, including Hiebert, School, Wedel and Neufeld.
