Graceland Box Score

McPherson, Kan. –
The McPherson College women’s softball team split their Saturday contests with Morningside College and Graceland University. The Bulldogs fell to Morningside, 8-0, before knocking off Graceland 10-4.

With the split, McPherson goes to 11-10 on the season.

The Bulldogs offense struggled in game one, as MC recorded just three hits to the Broncos 12.

Five of Morningside’s eight runs came off home runs, including a pair of two-run shots in the top of the third to give the Broncos a 5-0 lead. Morningside would add a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to earn the 8-0 victory.

Junior Andrea Falk (Cheyenne, Wyo.) received the loss.

However, the Bulldogs bounced back against Graceland with a 10 run, 11 hit effort against the Yellow Jackets.

Junior Katie Logan (Clay Center, Kan.) not only earned the win, but she finished the game 4-for-4 from the plate with four RBI and three runs scored.

After Graceland opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first, the Bulldogs answered with three of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Jamie Gilbert (Joplin, Mo.) led off the inning with a single, before Logan blasted a double to deep center field that scored Gilbert. Logan herself would score two batters later when Sadie Green (Hutchinson, Kan.) hit a two-run home run on a full count (3-1 McPherson).

The Bulldogs kept the pressure on with another three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 6-2 advantage into the middle innings.

Graceland attempted to chip away with a run in the fifth and sixth, but the Bulldogs matched both times, including a pair in the bottom of the sixth the seal the win.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, March 15 when they play Central Christian College at 2:00 p.m.
