Wichita, Kan. – The McPherson College softball team won two of three contests to remain alive and advance to day two of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference postseason softball tournament on Wednesday at Two Rivers Sports Complex.
With the results, McPherson improves to 22-25 overall on the year.
McPherson cruised to a 12-4 win over Southwestern College in the opening round before falling in extra innings to Bethany, 6-5.
However, despite facing elimination, the Bulldogs bounced back in game three with a 4-3 win against Kansas Wesleyan University too keep their championship hopes alive.
Sophomore Kelsey Dutton (Limon, Colo.) earned the win, allowing three runs on six hits over 3.2 innings of work. Junior Andrea Falk (Cheyenne, Wyo.) received the save by pitching 3.1 scoreless innings of relief. Eight different Bulldogs combined for MC’s eight hits.
McPherson returns to action tomorrow (Thursday, May 5) when they play Ottawa University at 12 p.m. The contest is a elimination game.
