Bulldogs Suffer Loss at Friends

Wichita, Kan. – The McPherson College volleyball team dropped a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference match to Friends University, 3-0, Wednesday night at the Garvey Center. The Bulldogs were swept by the scores of 16-25, 19-25 and 17-25.

The loss drops McPherson to 2-9 overall and 1-2 in the KCAC, while the Falcons improve to 10-5 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Junior Natalie Boss (Waterville, Kan.) led the Bulldogs with eight kills and a.143 hitting percentage, while seniors Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) and Amy Neufeld (Hillsboro, Kan.) tallied six kills apiece. Senior setter Brelynn Schloo (Salina, Kan.) handed out a team-high 13 assists, while senior libero Brooke Wedel (Moundridge, Kan.) recorded nine digs.

In the first set, Friends’ defense frustrated the Bulldogs into a -0.024 hitting percentage. McPherson would regain its composure in the second frame, but failed to overcome the talented Falcon offensive attack. The Bulldogs hit a match-high .219 in the third set, but Friends close out the match with a 17-25 victory.

The Bulldogs return to the court on Saturday when they host Sterling College and Central Christian College in a triangular at the McPherson Sport Center. McPherson opens play with Sterling at 2 p.m., before playing Central Christian at 6 p.m.
