The McPherson College women’s soccer team snapped a three match winless streak on Wednesday after a 2-0 shutout win at Central Christian College.
 
With the win, McPherson improves to 3-6-0 overall, while the Tigers fall to 1-9-0 overall.
 
McPherson dominated the match offensively, outshooting the Tigers, 24-6. Junior forward Rachael Cornell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tallied the game winning goal early in the first half when her shot slipped through the Central goalkeeper’s hands and into the back of the net.
 
The Bulldogs added another in the 37th minute when freshman forward Stephanie Cornell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) beat the goalkeeper off a pass from junior forward Jennifer Carlson (Kansas City, Mo.) to give MC a 2-0 advantage.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Tori Jennifer Carlson (Kansas City, Mo.) posted her first career shutout with two saves in 90 minutes of action.
 
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1, when they open Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play against the University of Saint Mary. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
