McPherson, Kan. – After opening the season against four talented opponents at the Mazzio’s Volleyball Tournament in Point Lookout, Mo., the McPherson College women’s volleyball team returns home to open Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference action Wednesday night against Southwestern College (Kan.). First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CST) inside the McPherson Sport Center.
The Bulldogs enter the midweek matchup with a 0-4 overall record after falling to College of the Ozarks (Mo.), John Brown University (Ark.), William Penn University (Iowa) and Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) during the weekend.
Over the past five seasons, McPherson holds a 7-3 record against the Moundbuilders, including season series sweeps in 2006, 2007 and 2010. The Bulldogs beat Southwestern 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-14) in their last meeting on Oct. 23, 2010.
Southwestern comes to the McPherson Sport Center with a 2-0 overall record after defeating Barclay College (Okla.) and Central Christian College (Kan.). Against Central, the Moundbuilders cruised to a 3-0 victory by set scores of 25-14, 25-13, 25-10.
After Southwestern, the Bulldogs hit the road for the Hastings College Quality Inn Classic on Friday and Saturday. McPherson opens the tournament with Morningside College (Iowa) on Friday at 11 a.m.
