McPherson, Kan. - The McPherson College women’s basketball teams looks to extend its three-game win streak, as the Bulldogs host Tabor College on Thursday night at the McPherson Sport Center. Tipoff for the matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT). The Bulldogs hold a 1-0 lead in the season series after defeating the Blue Jays, 62-52, in their first meeting.

Thursday’s game between the Bulldogs and Blue Jays will be video streamed on the KCAC Broadcast Network, but will lack an audio stream due to a scheduling conflict with 96.7 FM KBBE MidKansas Radio. KBBE plans to return to normal broadcast procedures following the game at Sterling on Saturday.

The Bulldogs, who can double their win total from a year ago with a victory Thursday night, enter the game 11-9 on the season and 6-4 in the KCAC after knocking off Bethel College, 70-65, last Saturday. McPherson overcame poor second half shooting and 20 total turnovers with a 75.7 percent (28-of-37) effort at the foul line. Taylor Puttergill’s 19 points led three Bulldogs in double figures, while Kt Porter hit two free throws with 13 seconds left to secure the winning margin and finish second on the squad with 14 points.

Tabor has struggled to a 3-17 overall record and 1-9 mark in the conference, including a 73-35 loss to nationally ranked Southwestern last Saturday. TC shot 27.7 percent from the field, while being outrebounded 48-29 and turning the ball over 31 times. Katlyn Mary led Tabor with eight points, while two other added six points each.

After Tabor, McPherson hits the road for a Saturday night contest at Sterling College. Tipoff at Warrior Gymnasium is currently scheduled for 5 p.m. (CT).

Against Southwestern, Tabor was held under 20 points in each period, as the Blue Jays finished the contest shooting 27.7 percent (13-of-47) from the floor, 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from 3-point range and 57.1 percent (4-of-7) at the foul line. Additionally, Southwestern held a 48-29 advantage in rebounding, including a 16-5 edge on the offensive glass. Katlyn Mary scored a team-high eight points, as no Blue Jays scored in double figures.

Tabor is coached by Shawn Reed, who is in his first season in Hillsboro. Reed previously served as an assistant coach at Sterling College where he helped the Warriors to an overall record of 230-55 during that nine-year span.

Overall, the Blue Jays feature an offense that ranks amongst the bottom half of the KCAC in most major categories, including 10th in scoring offense (50.5), ninth in scoring margin (-12.2) and eighth in field goal percentage offense (.353).
