Sterling, Kan. - The Bulldogs proved to be the stronger team Saturday night as they came out with the victory in overtime against the Sterling Warriors 95-89.
 
McPherson had four Bulldogs in double digits, led by Aaron Frazier (McPherson, Kan.) who put up 23 with Chris Crawford (McPherson, Kan.) adding another 21. Jordan Crawford (McPherson, Kan.) helped out the Bulldogs grabbing 14 total rebounds. The Bulldogs would shot 14-of-28 from the three as well helping them outlast the Warrior’s 47 percent shooting from the field.
 
The Bulldogs came out tough in the first five minutes starting the game with a 13-to-5 run capped off at 14:50 with a three by Kenny Berry, Jr. (Lee's Summit, Mo.). The Warriors would battle back in the next three minutes making it a one point game after a 7-to-0 run making it 13-12 after Sterling’s Jared Walker hit a two-point jumper.
 
However, McPherson would make another 18-to-8 stretching their lead to 11, their largest of the game with around six minutes left in the half. Sterling would battle back and hit a basket right before the end of the half bringing the game within five, 38-33 at the break.
 
The Second half continued to be a battle with both teams trading small runs. With nine minutes left, Samson Shivers (Houston, Texas) would hit a three to increase the Bulldogs lead to 10, 69-59. Shivers hit 4-of-7 for the game from three.
 
The last ten minutes of the second half went all Sterling after a dunk by the Warrior’s Adam Brown brought the game within three, 69-66. With a minute left, a J. Crawford foul put Sterling’s Cody Brazelton to the line. Brazelton would hit both free throws to help the Warrior’s to their second lead of the game, 77-78.
 
A pair of Frazier free throws would give the Bulldog’s back the lead, but the Warriors quickly answered with a jumper from Brazelton. Under a minute, Brazelton would be fouled by McPherson’s Berry, making 1-of-2 of his free throws giving the Warrior’s a two point lead, 81-79
 
The Bulldogs J. Crawford would tie things up at 81 with a jumper from the free throw line. The Warrior’s tried to answer, but Frazier came up with a big block as time expired.
 
Sterling would be the first to strike in overtime, but the Bulldog’s would come back to a six point lead with a little over a minute left after Frazier would hit a running lay-up and be fouled. Frazier hit the free throw converting the three point play. The Warriors would pull within two in the last minute, but the Bulldogs tough defense and solid free throw shooting, 81 percent for the game, would lead the Bulldogs to the 95-89 victory.
 
The Bulldogs next match will find them headed up to Leavenworth, Kan. to face the 17-4 Saint Mary’s Spires Thursday night. The Spires are 17-4 overall and boast a 9-3 record in KCAC play. The match is set to start at 8:00 p.m.
