McPherson, Kan. – McPherson women’s soccer improved to 3-6-2 for the season and grabbed their first win against a conference opponent after taking care of the Friends University Lady Falcons 2-1 on Wednesday.
 
Senior Cheyna Buchman (McPherson, Kan.) put two balls in the back of the net on Wednesday, one coming in the 11^th minute from about 35 yards out off of a Gabriela Navarro (Wichita, Kan.) assist.  Buchman’s second goal was scored 17 minutes later, when Kelli Hlushak (Loveland, Colo.) knocked her the ball in the box for an easy tap-in.  Friends took one back early in the second half, narrowing the gap to a one goal difference.  The Lady Bulldogs were able to hold on to their lead, winning 2-1.
 
MC put up nine total shots, five of which were on target.  Buchman led the squad in shots (3) and shots on goal (3).  Alexandria Paparella (Torrance, Calif.), Amy Stockton (Manhattan, Kan.) and Navarro each tallied two shots; Paparella and Stockton both put one shot on target.
 
Molly Whitwell (Plano, Texas) had a moderately relaxed game in goal, only logging two saves in her 90 minutes of action.
 
Lady Bulldog soccer will hit the pitch again on Saturday the 13^th when they take on the University of Saint Mary.  That match will be held at McPherson Stadium and is set to kickoff at 1:30 p.m. (CT)
