Lady Bulldog Soccer Loses 0-3 to KWU, Goes 0-1 in KCAC

Box Score McPherson, Kan. – In their first conference match of the season, the McPherson College women’s soccer team was defeated 0-3 by the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes.  The loss moves MC’s record to 2-5-2 for the season and 0-1 in the KCAC.
 
Both teams played well for the first 30 minutes of the contest, each controlling the ball equally.  In the 39th minute, KWU put their first goal in the back of the net on a penalty kick by Roxy Gomez.  The second goal was scored with under 30 seconds remaining in the half on a shot by Evelyn De La Rosa in the box.  For their final goal, the Lady Coyotes took advantage of a corner kick and a little bit of luck, as the ball landed at the feet of De La Rosa who tapped it in for her second goal of the game.

MC's Kelsey Garrison (Wichita, Kan.) was given a red card in the 39th minute which set up KWU's first goal and had to play with only 10 for the remainder of the game.
 
The Lady Bulldogs were only able to take four shots in the contest, one of which was on frame.  Gabriela Navarro (Wichita, Kan.) took two of MC’s shots and Stephanie Cornell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was the lone Bulldog to have a shot on target. 
 
Goalkeeper Molly Whitwell (Plano, Texas) recorded 12 saves in the contest, giving her 70 for the season.
 
McPherson’s next match will be against the Lady Braves of Ottawa University on October 6th in Ottawa, Kansas at 1:00 p.m. (CT)
