McPherson, Kan. – In the first match of the second round of KCAC play, Tabor College knocked McPherson’s record to 5-20 for the season and 2-8 in conference after a 3-0 Lady Blue Jay win.
TC came out and controlled the first game right from the start, getting up by five early and maintaining that advantage for the entire game. The Lady Bulldogs weren’t able to string together more than two points in the 13-25 loss.
Game two went much better for MC as they traded the lead with Tabor for 15 points but then TC went on an 11-3 run to finish the game on top 25-18.
In the final game of the match, McPherson stuck with the Lady Blue Jays for the opening six points but another run, 10-3, by TC left the Lady Bulldogs down 10-18 which was a deficit they could not come back from. Tabor completed the sweep with their 25-13 victory.
Sophomore Tori Phelan (Rangely, Colo.) was the top kill-getter for the Lady Bulldogs with nine of the team’s 38 total kills. Freshmen Aubrey Hoover (Pratt, Kan.) and Cortlyne Huppe (Florence, Colo.) each posted five kills in the match.
Rachel Phillips tallied 16 assists to lead McPherson’s setters.
A march up in Lindsborg, Kan., on October 10th awaits MC volleyball as they take on the Lady Swedes of Bethany College. That contest will begin at 7:00 p.m. (CT) in the Stroble Gibson Physical Education Center and Gym.
