McPherson, Kan. – Coming off a tough exhibition loss, the Lady Bulldogs are now preparing for the yearly rivalry game between the two McPherson colleges which is scheduled for this Tuesday, November 13 on the campus of Central Christian, with the women’s game starting at 6:00 p.m. (CT)

The contest will be broadcasted live in the McPherson area on 96.7 FM KBBE Mid-Kansas Radio and on the world wide web at Macbulldogs.com with Nick Gosnell on the call with Steve Sell providing the color commentary for the broadcast.

Against FHSU on Saturday, the Lady Tigers scored in the first 15 seconds of the game and led the rest of the way.  An early 17-2 run helped Fort Hays jump out to a 32-11 halftime lead.  MC was only 1-of-8 from the three-point line and 5-of-30 from the field and turned the ball over 17 times in the opening period, 11 of which were stolen by Fort Hays.

Hays’ 6-4 center got involved in the game in the second half, scoring eight of the first 11 points for the Lady Tigers.  MC had done a good job of containing Kate Lehman to just five points in the opening period but allowed 14 in the second.  The fast tempo style of play by FHSU left McPherson on the wrong end of a 78-37 final score.

McPherson only shot four free throws in the loss but was 100% from the stripe.  The Lady Bulldogs were 3-of-15 from deep for the game and ended with 29 total turnovers; their turnover-to-assist ratio was -24.

For the third time this season, Pittas led the Lady ‘Dogs in scoring, this time with 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting.  Chelsea Savage came in the game for the final six minutes and put in seven points on 3-of-5 to be the next highest scorer for MC.

A trip down to North Newton for the Bethel College Classic is where MC women’s basketball will have their next games.  They will first play William Penn University of Iowa on November 16th at 6:00 p.m. (CT).  The following day, Saturday the 17th, the Lady Bulldogs will get a second chance at beating Haskell Indian Nations University; tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.

Scouting Central Christian

The 1-4 Central Lady Tigers won their first game of the season to Union College and have since lost four-straight with their most recent loss coming to the University of Saint Mary 76-45.  CCC has also played KCAC’s Bethel College twice, losing 59-52 and 86-37.

Against the Lady Spires of USM, Central was only able to score 13 points in the first period, putting them in a 26-point hole; CCC nearly tripled their score in the second half, scoring 32 points.  Hitting 1-of-12 from distance hurt the Lady Tigers severely; the team shot 34.6% from the field but was converted 42.5 percent of their non-three pointers.  Getting out-rebounded by nearly double and turning over the ball 30 times didn’t help Central Christian’s cause either.

CCC’s Brook Rhodes went 6-of-13 from the field and 2-of-4 from the stripe for the game’s leading 14 points; she also picked up eight rebounds.  No other Tiger made it into double figures in points, assists or rebounds.

This season, Rhodes is averaging 14.75 points per contest and is shooting 41.1% from the floor; she is also close to having a double-double each outing as she averages 9.5 boards a game, 18th in the NAIA D-II.  Guard Raven Void is picking up 3.6 assist per game and her yearly total is 18.

As a team, Central is barely averaging over 50 points a contest but gives up just over 70.  Only 32.8% of their shots taken are making it through the hoop; they are 15-of-77 from behind the arc for a 19.5 percentage.

A contest against Rhema Bible College awaits the Lady Tigers on the 15th for their next competition.
