McPherson, Kan. – Lady Bulldog basketball got its first win of the 2012-13 season after scoring a season high 86 points against Central Christian College on Tuesday.  The 86-49 victory pushes MC’s record to 1-3 this year.
 
The Lady Bulldogs scored the first bucket just under 30 seconds into the game and never surrendered the lead for the remainder of the contest.  McPherson got up 10-2 and kept their near 10-point lead until a 15-2 run put MC up 20, a margin they kept for the remainder of the half, going into the locker room up 47-25. 
 
The Bulldogs shot very well in the first period, hitting 18-of-37 from the field and 44% from distance; the team also made seven of their 10 free throws.  MC forced 13 turnovers and scored 18 points off of them.  Ali Brewster (Milton, Kan.) had a great opening half, grabbing 15 points and four rebounds. 
 
In the second period, Central went point for point with McPherson for the first ten minutes but another Lady Bulldog run, 15-1, put MC up 30; Mac extended their lead to 40 points for a couple possessions but ended the game up 37.
 
McPherson didn’t have as great a shooting half in the second period, hitting 34.3 percent of their shots for 39 points.  A solid showing at the charity stripe, 11-of-13, improved MC’s free throw percentage for the game to 78.3.  31 total turnovers were committed by CCC while the Lady Bulldogs gave up the ball 21 times of their own in the game.  McPherson out-rebounded the Lady Tigers 48-34 and was able to grab 20 off the offensive glass.
 
Brewster scored only two points in the second half, giving her 17 for the game which tied her with Brittany Pittas (Chicago, Ill.) for the contest’s leading scorer; Brewster hit 6-of-12 and was 5-of-6 from the free throw stripe, she also had eight assists, six rebounds and three steals.  It was a team effort for the remaining Bulldog points, all but one player who saw action scored.
 
CCC’s leading scorers for the season, Brooke Rhodes and Kadetra O’Brine, topped the list for Central, putting in 11 and 13 points, respectively.  Rhodes had nine points at half but was only able to bucket one basket in the second period. 
 
The Lady Bulldogs will now prepare for the Bethel Classic which is being held on Friday and Saturday the 16th and 17th of November in North Newton, Kan.  They will take on William Penn University on Friday at 6:00 p.m. (CT) and get another shot at Haskell Indian Nations on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
