McPherson, Kan. – York College travels to the McPherson Sport Center on Monday, November 26 for a 6:00 p.m. (CT) competition with the MC Lady Bulldogs. The 1-9 Lady Panthers will be looking to break an eight-game losing streak.
The contest will be broadcasted live in the McPherson area on 96.7 FM KBBE Mid-Kansas Radio and on the world wide web at Macbulldogs.com with Nick Gosnell on the call with Steve Sell providing the color commentary for the broadcast. You can also watch the game via ihigh.com/macbulldogs or through the iHigh app.
MC is coming off a tough defeat to a MidAmerica Nazarene team that was anything but height-challenged. The NAIA D-I No. 15 Lady Pioneers have a starting lineup whose height averages over six-foot; seeing how McPherson doesn’t have a single player over the 6’ mark gave MANU the height advantage.
In the opening minutes of the game, both squads went through a five-minute scoring drought, staying stuck at 4-5 starting at the 17:38 mark. The two teams finally got to scoring again and a consistent making of shots by MC helped them tie the game at 31-31 heading into halftime.
In the second period, MANU got up early and never gave the lead back to the Lady Bulldogs; Mac was able to get within four points but never made it closer than that. MidAmerica put together a series of runs that gave them a double-digit lead for most of the second half. McPherson was resilient and never gave up, determined to stay in contention but the post-play of the Pioneers allowed MANU to keep their distance, ultimately winning 76-59.
Brittany Pittas led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 22 in her 29 minutes of playing time; she hit on 5-of-10 from deep and was 3-of-10 from the rest of the floor. Beth Cooper came in off the bench and scored seven points on 3-of-5 shooting.
McPherson will begin KCAC-play after their contest with the Lady Panthers. The team’s first conference matchup will be against inner-county rival Bethany College; that game is scheduled for November 29th at 6:00 p.m. (CT) in Lindsborg, Kan.
