Sterling, Kan. – A 1-3 loss to the Sterling College Lady Warriors solidified the sixth seed in the conference tournament for the Lady Bulldogs. Their 6-12 KCAC record tied MC with the Lady Threshers of Bethel but as McPherson defeated BC twice, they hold the tie-breaker.
On Saturday, the SC Lady Warriors jumped out to a quick start against MC in the opening game of their match but McPherson fought back, eventually taking the lead for the middle part of the game. After the Lady Bulldogs reached 18 points however, they seemed to be stuck, allowing BC to win the game after six-straight points, 25-18.
Game number two was another tight battle between the two squads with each team holding the lead and then losing it within a few points. The game went into overtime as neither team could get ahead by two points after reaching 25. The Lady Bulldogs finally came out victorious 28-26, tying the match at 1-1.
Sterling scored the first seven points of the next game, taking control from the start. MC clawed back, getting within three a couple of times but never really had a chance to take the lead. The Warriors would ultimately win the game 25-18, getting up 2-1.
In what turned out to be the final game of the contest, McPherson would lead through the first six points but not again for the remainder of the game. SC got up big with a 20-13 advantage but the Lady Bulldogs would not go away without a fight. MC went on an 8-4 run but ran out of time as Sterling finished the match on a service error of McPherson 25-21.
