McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College softball team defeated Central College in both of their double-header games on Wednesday, 12-0 and 21-4, earning their first two victories of the year.
Game One: McPherson 12 - Central Christian 0

The first game of the double-header started off slow for both teams, with the first run coming in the third inning where McPherson scored seven. MC continued to score in the next two innings (two in the fourth and three in the fifth) to run-rule the opening contest. Six Bulldogs had two hits in the game and everyone who came to the plate made it on base at least once. Third baseman Katie Logan (Clay Center, Kan.) led the team with three RBIs and logged a homerun and a double.
Allison Love (Tulsa, Okla.) got her fourth complete game of the season, her first one without allowing a run. In the five innings pitched, she recorded four strikeouts, two fly outs and three groundouts.
The Central Christian Tigers were only able to put the ball into play three times in the opening game; Tiffany Burget, Angela Jamison and Mallory Smith were the athletes to get a hit.
Brooklynn Lemons was the starting pitcher for CCC and pitched the entire game, allowing 12 runs, nine earned, and fifteen hits in her 28 batters faced.
Game Two: McPherson 21 – Central Christian 4

The Lady Bulldogs second double-header game of the night, started off with a bang as MC grabbed a quick six to zero lead after the first inning making it nearly impossible for the Tigers to come back. The team had 14 hits out of their 26 at bats. Ariel McGee (Denver, Colo.) led the team with three and also drew a walk to put her on base in all four of her plate appearances; she also scored each time she made it on base. Kaci Nichols (Wilson, Kan.) hit the game’s only homerun, a grand-slam that came in the first inning, giving her four RBIs.
Nichols was also the starting pitcher for game two of the day and had her first complete game of the year. She allowed only four hits and had two strikeouts in the 23 batters she faced.
Central had one more hit in their second game than they did in their first and grabbed four runs off of their four hits. MacKenzie Hobbs led the team in RBIs with two, coming off of her lone hit.
Jordan Stewart started the last game of the night for the Tigers and lasted four and a third innings before being replaced by Meaghan Reamy who got the final two outs of the night. Stewart had five strikeouts, two groundouts and 11 walks during her time on the mound.
McPherson will be back out at Wall Park for the McPherson College Softball Tournament that is scheduled for March 9th and 10th. Their first game will be against Hasting College of Nebraska at 10:30 a.m. (CT) on Friday.
