Ottawa, Kan. – The Lady Bulldog softball team was shutout by the Ottawa Braves on Saturday, losing 0-5 and 0-10. MC moves to 10-20 overall and 4-6 in the KCAC, keeping them sixth in the conference.
Game One: McPherson 0 – Ottawa 5

In game one of the double-header, Ottawa got out to a fast start, scoring in each of the first two innings, two in the first and one in the second. The Lady Braves put two up two more in the fourth inning to make it a five run victory for OU.
Five Lady Bulldogs recorded one hit during the game.
Allison Love (Tulsa, Okla.) was the starting pitcher for McPherson and pitched yet another complete game for the Lady Bulldogs. Al. Love allowed three earned runs, nine hits and had three strikeouts in the 27 batters she faced.
Nine hits were logged by Ottawa in the win; Myah Sprew and Amanda Martinsen each grabbed two to lead the Braves.
OU went through two pitchers in their game against McPherson, and sent Ashley Renaldi to the mound first. Renaldi pitched six innings, tallied four strikeouts, two groundouts and two fly outs before she was relieved by Darin Lewis who closed out the game. Lewis allowed one hit in the four batters she faced.
Game Two: McPherson 0 – Ottawa 10

Two poor innings led to an early dismissal for McPherson. The Lady Bulldogs surrendered four runs in the third and six more in the fourth, giving Ottawa the run-ruled win.
MC tallied one more hit in game two than they had in the opening game, earning six. Katie Logan (Clay Center, Kan.) led the team with two while five others had one. Kelly Custer (Elkhart, Kan.) twice made it safely on base, drawing two walks.
All three of McPherson’s pitchers were used in the final game of the day with Kaci Nichols (Wilson, Kan.) getting the start. Nichols went three and a third innings, allowing six runs, five earned, seven hits and one walk. Brittany Cole (Belton, Mo.) came in to replace Nichols but couldn’t get out of the inning, giving up four earned runs. Al. Love finished the game, forcing the lone batter she faced to groundout.
The Braves put up 10 runs on 12 hits in the second game. Once again, Sprew led OU with three hits; two others had two and five more earned one hit.
Morgan Shramek pitched the complete game for Ottawa, logging one strikeout, five groundouts and two fly outs in her five innings.
The Lady Bulldogs will be on the field again April 17th when they travel to Winfield, Kansas to face the Moundbuilders of Southwestern College. Their double-header is set to start at 5 p.m. (CT)
