Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Winfield, Kan. – The Lady Bulldog softball squad ventured to Winfield, Kansas Tuesday, April 17 for a double-header against Southwestern College.  The series was split 1-1 with the Moundbuilders taking game one 8-0 in five innings, and McPherson winning the second 6-2.
 
After the split, MC is now 11-21 for the year and 5-7 in the KCAC.  Southwestern moves to 2-6 in the conference, 16-14 overall.
 
Game One:  McPherson 0 – Southwestern 8

The Bulldogs had a tough time putting bat on ball as they were only able to record one hit for the contest.  Amanda (Grace) Baxter (Pueblo, Colo.) logged the one hit which came in the opening inning.
 
Allison Love (Tulsa, Okla.) started and pitched for two and a third innings before Brittany Cole (Belton, Mo.) came in relief midway through the third.  Love allowed four earned runs from seven hits.  Cole, in her two innings, gave up four runs, two earned, including the game-ending run in the top of the fifth inning.
 
SWC tallied 11 hits in their game one victory, with every Lady Builder that played making positive contact on the ball.  Chelsea Fort led Southwestern in hits with two and Desiree Shipp brought around two players to lead SWC in RBIs.
 
A complete game went to Rachel Ratcliffe for the Moundbuilders.  She pitched five innings, allowed no runs and one hit while striking out 10.
 
Game Two: McPherson 6 – Southwestern 2

In game two of the double-header, McPherson came out swinging as they put up five runs from four hits in the second inning to go up 5-0.  SWC attempted to climb their way back into the game but a stingy performance by starting pitcher Al. Love kept the Builders at bay. 
 
McPherson exploded for 11 hits in the final game of the day; Katie Logan (Clay Center, Kan.), Courtney Shald (Coffeyville, Kan.), and Sadie Green (Hutchinson, Kan.) each logged two to lead the way.  Baxter reached base twice as well and recorded a team high two RBIs.
 
For the second straight game, Al. Love started for the Lady Bulldogs and this outing went much smoother.  She pitched the complete game, tallying two earned runs, eight hits allowed and two strikeouts.
 
Southwestern put the ball in play eight times with Shelby Tucker and Kaylee Hicks each earning two; Tucker and Hicks both hit in two, leading the Builders in RBIs.
 
Alysse Yates got things going for SWC from the mound, pitching two innings, surrendering five, before Ratcliffe came in relief.  Ratcliffe completed the game, allowing one earned run off of five hits in her five innings.
 
 
McPherson softball hits the field again on Saturday, April 21 when they take on Bethel in a 1 p.m. (CT) start double-header.
