McPherson, Kan. – Lady Bulldog softball swept their double-header against the Bethel College Threshers on Saturday in McPherson. MC won 4-0 in game one and 10-4 in the second matchup. MC improves to 13-21 for the season, 7-7 in the KCAC.
Game One: McPherson 4 – Bethel 0

The Lady Bulldogs opened up game one with a solo homerun in each of the first two innings, from
Sadie Green (Hutchinson, Kan.) and
Janie Gunther (Scott City, Kan.), getting up 2-0 after the second inning. An
Amanda (Grace) Baxter (Pueblo, Colo.) single shot down the left field line brought around two in the fifth, making the final score 4-0 McPherson.
Eight hits were recorded by MC with Baxter, Green and
Kristen Gustafson (Overland Park, Kan.) earning two apiece;
Ashley Love (Tulsa, Okla.) and Gunther each put the ball into play one time.
The starting pitcher for McPherson was
Allison Love (Tulsa, Okla.) who pitched a complete game. She logged two strikeouts, six groundouts and three fly outs as well as eight hits in her seven innings.
Seven different Lady Threshers made positive contact in the opening game; Victoria Roberts was the lone player with two hits.
Rachel Unruh started the game in the pitching position for Bethel and threw a complete game. She tallied four earned runs off of eight hits and one walk.
Game Two: McPherson 10 – Bethel 4

In the second game of day, an error helped seven-run second inning gave MC an 8-2 lead. Each team scored two more times the rest of the game, making it a 10-4 McPherson win.
Ariel McGee (Denver, Colo.) went 3-of-3 with three RBIs, two coming from her third inning homerun, to lead MC in hits.
Katie Logan (Clay Center, Kan.) earned two hits and drew a walk to make it on base safely three times in the contest. Three other Lady Bulldogs achieved one hit in the victory.
Kaci Nichols (Wilson, Kan.) got the starting nod for McPherson and pitched six innings, surrendering four runs, three earned coming from eight hits. She had one strikeout, three groundouts and six fly outs before
Brittany Cole (Belton, Mo.) came in to start the seventh inning. In her single inning, Cole faced three batters, forcing one groundout and two pop outs.
Kylee Gragg and Sarah Cunningham each earned two hits for Bethel, four other Threshers grabbed one; Staci DeWild led the team with two RBIs.
Two pitchers were used by Bethel in the last game of the day, Kelly Toll started things off and pitched two and a third innings, allowing eight runs, two earned, and four walks before Unruh came in to close out the game. Unruh gave up two runs, one earned, off of two hits in her three and two thirds innings.
McPherson has two more home double-headers before the KCAC tournament. The first is set to begin next Tuesday, April 24 at 5 p.m. (CT) against Sterling College.
