McPherson, Kan. – Education continues to be an important role in athletics at McPherson College. Student-athlete’s overall Grade Point Average for the 2011-12 school year was 2.95, which is up 0.06 points from a 2.89 last year.
The average GPA for the Lady Bulldog sports was a 3.12 and a 2.77 for the men’s sports. Women’s cross country led the way with a 3.45 and were followed closely by women’s track & field at 3.42. Atop the men’s sports was men’s tennis which averaged a 3.28.
After averaging a 2.89 in the first semester, McPherson student-athletes raised the bar and improved to a 3.00 GPA in the second.
This past school year, 23 Bulldogs have represented McPherson College as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes. The Bulldogs also grabbed five Academic All-America honors as well.
McPherson had 7 out of 15 teams above a 3.0 which will earn them the NAIA Scholar Team Award.
