Lady Bulldog Volleyball Goes Down Twice in OKC Triangular

Oklahoma City, Okla. – In a three team tournament, McPherson volleyball went 0-2, losing to 0-3 to both Oklahoma City University (18-25, 17-25, 18-25) and Texas Wesleyan University (14-25, 18-25, 18-25).  This drops MC’s record to 2-11 overall.

In the first match of the day for McPherson, they faced off against Oklahoma City University.  In three-straight games, the Lady Bulldogs were defeated, averaging close to 18 points per game against a strong OCU team.

Front line player Aubrey Hoover (Pratt, Kan.) led the way for the Bulldogs in scoring with 9.5 points.  She tallied eight kills, one solo block and one assisted block.  Tori Phelan (Rangely, Colo.) was second on the team with seven points followed by freshman Cortlyne Huppe (Florence, Colo.) with 6.5.

Their second match was more of the same for McPherson as they lost to Texas Wesleyan 0-3.  The Lady Bulldogs had their number of kills doubled by TXWU with 22 and 44, respectively.

Phelan hit the double digit mark in scoring with 10 coming from 10 kills.  Hoover and Huppe each added six points.

MC volleyball returns home for their next contest against the University of Saint Mary Spires.  The Lady Bulldogs will be looking to improve their conference record to 2-1.  That match is scheduled for September 19th at 7 p.m. (CT)
