York, Neb. – The MC women’s soccer team went 110 minutes with the York College Panthers on Saturday, ending the game in a 0-0 tie. This puts YC’s record at 2-0-1 and McPherson’s at 0-0-1.
The Lady Bulldogs put up 22 shots in the contest, with 12 of them being on target but could not find the back of the net. Gabriela Navarro (Wichita, Kan.) led the squad with five shots, two on goal; Cheyna Buchman (McPherson, Kan.) and Stephanie Cornell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) each put four shots towards the goal with two being grabbed by the keeper.
MC Goalkeeper Molly Whitwell (Plano, Texas) recorded three saves in the tie; the Bulldog defense only gave up four shot attempts in the whole game.
McPherson has their next match against NCAA opponent Fort Hays State University on Wednesday, September 5. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. (CT) in Hays, Kan.
