Box Score

McPherson, Kan. – McPherson College men’s soccer is now 5-2-1 after suffering a 0-2 defeat to the Westminster College Griffins.  This was the Bulldog’s final non-conference matchup of the year as MC starts KCAC play on Wednesday.

McPherson controlled the game for the first 30 minutes but the Griffins took over from there, scoring in the 42nd minute off of a corner kick.  In the second half, Westminster came out aggressive, challenging MC for every ball and capitalized on one of the Bulldogs’ miscues for their second goal of the day, this one by Alex Roegiers on a nifty pass from Marcus Brown in the 81st minute.

Both teams attempted 13 shots in the game; McPherson put four on target while Westminster had five between the posts.  Johnny Nuthall (Reno, Nev.) led the Bulldogs in shots with four, having one on goal.  Defender Michael Phillips (Spring Branch, Texas) had two of his three shots saved by the keeper.

The keeper for Bulldogs, Taylor Parrott (Wichita, Kan.), recorded three saves in the match.

For their first conference contest of the year, McPherson will take on the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan on October 3rd at McPherson Stadium.  KWU was picked second in the KCAC’s preseason poll.
