Hillsboro, Kan. – In their first KCAC match of the 2012 season, the McPherson volleyball team lost 0-3 (12-25, 11-25, 23-25) to Tabor College on Wednesday. The loss puts the Lady Bulldogs at 1-4 for the season and improves the Blue Jays’ record to 4-2.
The Nationally ranked Tabor volleyball squad quickly showed MC that they were not ranked by accident, taking the first two games in rapid fashion. The Blue Jays forced 22 attacking errors while only committing 11 of their own for the match. TC out-killed the Lady Bulldogs 37-16 and ended the match with a 28.6 hitting percentage compared to the -4.4% of McPherson.
Freshman Aubrey Hoover (Pratt, Kan.) was one of the lone bright spots for MC with her nine kills and one assisted block for 9.5 points, leading the Bulldogs. Junior outside hitter Emily Girard (Osborne, Kan.) was second in scoring with 4.5 points on three kills and 1.5 blocks.
McPherson will travel to Hastings, Nebraska for the Hastings College Quality Inn Classic this weekend, the 7th and 8th of September. Their first match is scheduled for 4 p.m. (CT) on Friday against Hastings College. They will then play Concordia University at 8 p.m., followed by matches against Dordt College and Doane College on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
