Box Score

McPherson, Kan. – It was a difficult one to swallow for McPherson soccer as they dropped a 2-0 contest to Sterling College which potentially took them out of the running for a regular season conference championship.  Mac is now 8-7 on the year and 5-2 against KCAC schools.

The Bulldogs controlled possession in the opening period but could not break through the Warrior defense.  MC took four shots compared to Sterling's one but still went into the half tied at 0-0.

In the second 45, it was more of the same for McPherson as they maintained possession and continued to push men forward.  SC grabbed their first goal of the day on a counter-attack, going ahead 1-0 after 75 minutes of play.

MC switched to an attacking formation in the final part of the contest, looking for an equalizer.  Unfortunately, Sterling took advantage of the three-back defensive lineup of the Bulldogs, scoring in the 84th minute to seal the deal for the Warriors 2-0.

Mac outshot SC 12-to-8 with Johnny Nuthall (Reno, Nev.) taking four cracks at goal with two going on target.  Kevin Aka (Paris, France) put two towards the goal with one finding the hands of the keeper.

Taylor Parrott (Wichita, Kan.) recorded four saves and two goals allowed in the loss.

There are two games left in the regular season for the Bulldogs with the first coming against Southwestern College on November 2nd; the competition is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. (CT) kickoff in Winfield, Kansas.
