McPherson, Kan. – Bragging rights for the city of McPherson were on the line Monday night as the Bulldogs traveled to the south side of town for a battle with Central Christian College.  After three sets, the match was decided by a score of 3-0 in favor of MC.  The Lady 'Dogs are now .500 for the season at 16-16.

Mac came out playing on all cylinders, easily taking the opening set 25-11.

However, the CCC team is a much improved Lady Tiger squad and they were sure to give McPherson all they could handle in the second and third sets, getting up early in both.  In the second game, Central went toe-to-toe with the Lady Bulldogs, staying on pace through the first 16 points; MC would then turn it on and finish on a 9-to-2 run, winning 25-18.

The final set started out all Central as the Tigers got up 11-4 right out of the gate.  A quick push for points by McPherson gave the 'Dogs a 14-12 lead and from there Mac coasted to a 25-16 win, completing the three-game sweep of Central Christian.

Sophomore middle hitter Cortlyne Huppe (Florence, Colo.) led the way in kills for the Bulldogs with her 10 on 16 swings; she recorded an incredible 56.3 hitting percentage and tallied five block assists as well.  Tori Phelan (Rangely, Colo.) and Taylor Johnson (Valley Center, Kan.) each netted eight kills; Johnson also had one solo block and three assisted.  Senior co-captain Emily Girard (Osborne, Kan.) hit a team-high 70% with her seven kills on 10 swings.

Rachel Phillips (Maize, Kan.) logged 35 assists, six digs, one kill and one block assist from the setter position.

With 18 digs, Emily Warner (Wichita, Kan.) led the way; the freshman libero now has a team-high 411 for the season.

It's a full week for McPherson as they play Wednesday the 30th at Bethany College in Lindsborg and then Saturday the 2nd of November at Bethel College in North Newton; both matches are slated for 7:00 p.m. (CT) starts.
