McPherson, Kan. – McPherson men's basketball controlled Saturday's contest against Johnson and Wales University of Colorado from the get-go, having a 10-point advantage for all but 13 minutes.  After two halves, Mac claimed the 95-72 win.

Eight seconds.  That's how long the Bulldogs trailed in the 40-minute game.  The first five minutes of the game saw three ties and one lead change but other than that, McPherson was in the driver seat.  It took Mac until the final seven to get their advantage to double figures but once they did, they didn't look back, keeping the 10+ lead for the final 27.

The Bulldogs ended the first half shooting 50% from the floor as they made 17-of-34 with 5-of-13 coming from downtown; just 4-of-9 free throws made their way through the net.  J&W also shot the ball well as they made 9-of-21 including two three balls. 

McPherson's lead hovered around the 20-point mark for the final period, never getting higher than 27 or lower than 16.  With reserves from each team playing the final three minutes, Mac cruised to the 95-72 victory.

Another 17 balls went in for the Bulldogs in the second half as they converted on 17-of-30; 4-of-10 three-point shots and 14-of-19 from the stripe were counted for MC.  Johnson and Wales also improved their percentage, hitting 14-of-31 from the floor and 11-of-16 from the free throw line. 

Talk about home court advantage, tor the game, McPherson shot an unbelievable 53.1% from the field, 34-of-64, 39.1% from deep, 9-of-23, and 64.3% from the charity stripe, 18-of-28.  Mac rebounded 42 balls to the Wildcats' 32 and pulled in 14 offensive boards; the 'Dogs also had 19 assists with just nine turnovers.

Five Bulldogs made their way into double-digits in scoring; they were led by Samson Shivers' (Houston, Texas)  24 on a 7-of 14 night from the floor and 5-of-6 from the line.  Joey Powers (Welch, Okla.) scored 15, making 7-of-9 two-pointers with a free throw.  Erik DeRoo (Tyler, Texas) came in off the bench to score his 11, hitting two threes, two twos and a FT.  The Johnsons, Devirous and Brian (BJ) (no relation), each scored 10 points; D. Johnson also had a team-high 14 rebounds while B. Johnson had eight and led the team in assists with five.

MC gets to play on their home floor for their next game as they host Manhattan Christian College on Monday, November 4; tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (CT).  The Bulldog junior varsity squad plays Brown Mackie College prior to the varsity contest.
